News from the NAHB - Builders are Redesigning Homes

While we have seen many Atlanta homebuilders offer amazing spring incentives, the research center at the National Association of Home Builders has been digging a little deeper to see what builders are doing to sell more homes in the dim market. According to the results of the surveys from earlier this year, builders have begun adjusting how they build homes and how they sell them to cater more towards the desires and needs of the homebuyers. I know this sounds like a no-brainer tactic, but there have been some serious changes to the homebuilding industry that may not have come into effect if the market hadn’t dipped like it did. Approximately 75% of the builders polled said that they are now building more energy efficient new homes, as it gives them an edge over the competition and results in the best value for their customers. While altering home design and the building process makes the product more appealing, incentives are also a popular technique to encourage home sales. Among the most popular homebuyer incentives are free upgrades and paid closing costs. For those invovled in the Atlanta real estate industry, this is an interesting article that you can fully read at the NAHB Web site. As a consumer, it’s nice to know that the builders are listening to our suggestions and finally working with us to build a house that perfectly suits us.
