Monte Hewett’s ‘Fish Camp’ Featured in the AJC

The interior of Monte Hewett’s “Fish Camp” playhouseFall is approaching just around the corner, and with the new season comes HomeAid Atlanta’s annual fundraiser, Project Playhouse. This year, the much-anticipated charity event in Atlanta has relocated from the Mall of Georgia to Lenox Square Mall. With this central and convenient location, HomeAid expects to have the most successful event to date. Maybe it is for this reason they brought in Project Playhouse veteran, Monte Hewett, as a judge. With Atlanta homebuilders spending so much time constructing beautiful, upscale, themed playhouses for a good cause, it is a difficult task to be able to objectively evaluate each project. There is no doubt that Monte Hewett will be able to use his expert eye to thoroughly and fairly analyze each playhouse and give the proper accolades. The reason Monte Hewett is such a great choice for a Project Playhouse judge is because he holds the record for the highest-grossing playhouse in the history of the fundraiser. In 2005, he built “Fish Camp” for the charitable event, and it was auctioned off for $36,000! Monte Hewett Homes builds new green built homes in Atlanta and the surrounding area, so it only makes sense that this high quality of construction would transfer to his playhouse.

The “Fish Camp” house has drawn a lot of attention, as the Atlanta Journal Constitution just ran a story about the family that purchased the playhouse while promoting HomeAid Atlanta. “Fish Camp” has a new Buckhead address and is the primary play place for two growing boys. By purchasing this exceptionally built playhouse that was fully furnished, Crissy Klaus has provided her children with a fun retreat to help grow their imaginations and encourage their development. In addition, she made an incredible donation to help the homeless population in Atlanta and the surrounding metro areas. For more details about “Fish Camp” and a few of the playhouses you’ll see at this year’s event, read the entire AJC article. Don’t forget to plan a trip to Lenox one weekend from September 13 to October 4, so that you can see these extraordinary, fully furnished playhouses and cast your vote for your favorite.
