Metrostudy Talks Atlanta Housing in 2017

Metrostudy Talks Atlanta Housing in 2017Eugene James, Director for Metrostudy, joins co-hosts Carol Morgan and Todd Schnick for the All About Real Estate segment on Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio to discuss current trends in the Atlanta housing market.

Metrostudy is a consulting firm specializing in providing primary and secondary market information to the housing and residential construction industry, helping builders and bankers to increase revenue.

According to James, the issue remains that there is simply not enough inventory to appease the current demand. Inventory homes are selling quickly because there just are not enough of them, thus an increase in prices.

Going forward, James predicts a shortage of entry-level homes and an expansion of new homes surrounding the perimeter. Job growth is helping baby boomers and Generate X to replenish their 401(k) accounts that took a hit during the downturn, and eventually retire. Millennials are also benefitting from the surplus in jobs and finding a place within the job market, to eventually dive in as a homeowner.

Metrostudy results show that at the end of 2016, there had been a 14 percent increase in new-home starts in the Atlanta area, a trend that is expected to continue in 2017.

Listen to the above interview to hear more of James’ predictions and struggles for the housing industry in 2017, including a forecast regarding the affect the Trump administration will have. For more information, visit Metrostudy.com or contact Eugene James at 404-510-1080.
