Make Plans for the HomeAid Care Day

HomeAid AtlantaHomeAid Atlanta is looking for volunteers to participate in the 2009 HomeAid Care Days. As you all know, HomeAid Atlanta is the charitable branch of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association, and last year they introduced a new concept – Care Day – in which the organization helps renovate and repair a local transitional housing facility. Last year’s inaugural event was a huge success, and we are hoping to make this year even better. The dates to participate in the 2009 Care Day are October 23rd and 24th for New Life Maternity Home.

The 2,400 square foot New Life Maternity Home serves up to five, homeless, pregnant teen girls between the ages of 12-17. It is one of only two maternity homes in Georgia. The mission of New Life Maternity Home is to provide a nurturing residential care-program for expectant teenage girls that empowers and prepares them for productive, independent, meaningful and responsible lives in their communities after giving birth. Resident teen mothers are able to continue their schooling and develop life skills while enhancing their post-pregnancy support system. New Life generally serves 10-12 young mothers per year. New Life was named Group Home of the Year by Emory’s GEMS program.

You can volunteer to help out one or both days, and we are greatly appreciative for all help. Also, if you know someone or someplace that is willing to donate materials (see the needs list below) or lunch for the volunteers that would also be a big help.

If you are available to volunteer or donate materials, please call 678-697-6935. See you there!
