Upon turning to page 22, the first thing you’ll notice is a picture of Bob and Lee Driscoll sitting in their spacious and classic living room. The couple’s unique and exquisite space was custom designed, creating the perfect home for the couple. With the help of Astoria designer, Shelley Hall, the Driscolls created a sophisticated environment in their new home by combining Asian artwork, furniture and artifacts with sleek, modern contemporary furniture and lines. The article tells the tale of how the couple chose The Astoria as their new home and why they have grown to love the space so much.
The Astoria at the Aramore designer, Shelley Hall was also featured in Living in Atlanta in a piece entitled 60 Seconds with Shelley Hall. The Atlanta designer shared tips and tricks to turning your new condo into a home. As part of her tips, Hall recommended that condo owners stay away from large, overstuffed pieces of furniture as these big and bulky items have a tendency to overwhelm a new home.
Hall has also been noticing neutral gray color pallets coming into play more often in homes. She believes the soft gray, combined with an accent color create a nice background color for artwork and other focal pieces throughout the home. In addition, Hall said that large pieces of artwork designed to create a main focal point in a space are becoming more popular. She has also noticed other designers putting up glass partitions in the room to exhibit art as though it was floating in the center of the room. If you’re wondering what designers and furniture lines you should look at when decorating a new home, Hall recommends Baker and Ethan Allen. The popular furniture store has recently updated its product line, creating a more metropolitan look.
