Kia Adds New Team Members
Since beginning production over two months ago, Kia Automotive Manufacturing Georgia in West Point has built over 15,000 new cars. The plant is home to the popular Kia crossover the Sorento and on January 2 the 2011 models started heading off to Kia dealers across the country.
In addition to creating new cars, Kia is also accepting applications for a second wave of Team Members who will begin work in April. Kia is expected to hire over 1,000 new Team Members. The applications are already rolling in, but unlike the first round of hiring, the 2010 application process will stay open with no deadline, making it easy for everyone to become part of the team.
New Kia employees will mean cars will be able to be manufactured at a faster rate. In order to keep up with the supply demand these jobs will create, Kia suppliers will need to increase the amount of jobs available as well. Supplier jobs in the Greater Valley Area are expected to rise from 3,00o to about 7,500 in order to meet the demand created by Kia’s new jobs.
With the influx of jobs in the Greater Valley Area, Greater Valley Group (GVG) has begun development on several new home communities, including: Quail Run, Riverside Estates and Rose Hill (coming soon). Each community provides unique amenities to their residents including swimming and tennis, golfing, hunting and equestrian activities.
