July 1 Builder Licensing is Approaching

As a reminder, ALL contractors will be required to have a license to do business in Georgia as of July 1, 2008. The deadline is just weeks away.

If you have been approved for a license but need to switch your license application from an Individual to a Qualifying Agent OR if you have additional companies that need to be licensed, applications to make these changes are now available.

The applications to change or add are:
* Residential-Basic License by Prior Approval Status
* Residential-Light Commercial License by Prior Approval Status
* General Contractor License by Prior Approval Status

Note that you may only apply for a change or an additional license in the category in which you have already been approved.Download applications from the Secretary of State here.

The HBA is offering special application blitzes to assist members in completing these applications.
* Staff will provide a 15-minute overview of the new application process.
* Members may bring a completed application for review, or applications can be completed on site.
* All applications require an additional passport-type photo; a photographer will be on site to take photos for a small fee.
* Notary Public will be on site.

* April 11, 11 a.m.-noon, The Housing Center
* May 9, 11 a.m.-noon, The Housing Center
