How do other places view Atlanta?

Today’s Tennessean, Nashville’s daily paper, gives a good look at how other communities view Atlanta — with a mixture of “envy and horror.” The article features Forsyth County and a history of growth in the area, with some very quotable comments, such as “Everybody thinks it’s their God given right to use their land as a retirement fund.” Do you think Middle Tennesseans are learning the lessons they should from Atlanta’s fast growth? Is the Atlanta region good for nothing but a bad example, as people in my South Georgia hometown used to say about certain folks? I’d love to hear what the Atlanta real estate community and developers think.
