HomeAid Care Day Helps Young Teen Mothers
Representing the real estate industry extremely well, the recent HomeAid Care Day was a tremendous success thanks to all of the extraordinary volunteers. On October 23 and 24, over 20 volunteers showed up for HomeAid Care Day, a program in partnership with HomeAid Atlanta who serves the temporarily homeless by building and maintaining housing for them. Throughout these two days, volunteers helped out any way they could to benefit the New Life Beginning Maternity Home in Lithonia, a home for homeless pregnant teen girls between the ages of 12 and 17.
As a way to give back to the community and help those in need, volunteers spent the day assisting in repair projects for the home and yard. The Associates Council of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association was there to guide the crew as the team captain and oversee organizing volunteers and gathering various supplies that were needed for projects. After two days of hard work that included repairing and staining the screen porch, deck and fence; replacing damaged doors; pressure washing; and landscaping among other things, the home is now in great shape to host young mothers.
The community service project turned out to be a great success due to the many volunteers and companies that took part. Over 15 different companies generously partnered with HomeAid Atlanta to carry out the project including CCM Homes, Cooper Homes, Garcia Constructores, Manor Homes, O’Dwyer Homes, Principal Financial Group and many others.
Now that the home has undergone renovations it will be ready to serve young teenage mothers by offering a nurturing atmosphere as well as empowering them to be productive and independent after giving birth. Thanks to everyone that came and made our HomeAid Care Day such a success!
