HomeAid Atlanta and BOMA-Atlanta Partner for Great Cause
Building Owners and Managers of Atlanta (BOMA-Atlanta) partnered with HomeAid Atlanta to organize over 120 volunteers for HomeAid Care Day, a one-day service project at a College Park Duplex. The duplex, which is owned by Tapestry Youth Ministries, will eventually serve as transitional housing for homeless young mothers and their children.
Many renovations are needed before the housing is ready for use, and HomeAid Care Day was the kick-off day for these renovations. Tim Thomas, president of Double T Contracting Inc. and volunteer, led fellow volunteers through construction-related tasks.
Ann Carey, Executive Director for HomeAid Atlanta states, “We were proud to partner with BOMA-Atlanta for this HomeAid Care Day [...] Thanks to their help, we have made significant progress in renovating the duplex and are well on the way to providing a home for young moms who have no place to turn and need extra support.”
After the duplex is completed, it will be operated by Tapestry Youth Ministries. It will serve homeless, young mothers who are between the ages of 18 and 23, have no more than two children, and have graduated from a Second Chance Home, which are similar residences for homeless teen mothers aged 14 to 17. Mothers must also have a job and take on basic household responsibilities. This wonderful program helps prepare young mothers to live independently.
See the HomeAid Atlanta or the BOMA-Atlanta Web site for more information on what these organizations do for the community.
