Home Builders Turn to Blogging to Better Business

The industry publication Professional Builder had a feature in October’s issue about how home builders and other home building business have turned to blogging as a way to stay connected with customers. There really is no surprise that the art of blogging is beginning to make headlines. Social media in general has become a large part of the home building industry, and many companies and individual turn to blogs to help promote their business. Blogs are an easy and convenient way to get an edge on the competition and get your feet wet in social media.  Through corporate blogs, home builders can further connect with customers and establish them as industry experts in specific areas – for example green building, active adult, first time homebuyers, etc. This is also a great way to reach a broad audience if you feel there is an important issue to address, like the current state of the housing market or how the federal housing tax will impact the market. Traditional marketing is no longer sufficient for home builders, and the Professional Builder article highlights exactly why a blog augments these traditional marketing endeavors.

The article mentions two Atlanta-based companies including Monte Hewett Homes and Flammer Relations.  Monte Hewett Homes was highlighted because they are one of many companies that has created a corporate blog to help showcase the expertise of the builder. Carol Flammer of Flammer Relations is quoted in the article on why blogging is a good idea for home builders – “A blog is an easy and efficient way to keep home buyers abreast of seasonal maintenance needs, building schedules, social functions and community events.” Carol Flammer is the social media expert for home builders, so seeking out her input for this article seems completely natural.
