Holiday Toy Drive Hosted at Kingston on Lake Oconee
Santa Claus is coming to town! Well, to be specific, he isn’t exactly coming to this town – Atlanta – but he will be in Buckhead, GA this weekend. Buckhead is not a far commute from Atlanta, less than 90 minutes on I-20 East. And Buckhead, GA is home to the new Georgia golf community Kingston on Lake Oconee, and it is at this lakefront community where Santa will pay a visit this weekend. He is coming to participate in the toy and food drive that Kingston on Lake Oconee is hosting. All of these factors make this weekend the opportune time to visit the new community.
On Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the toy and food drive will take place at the community’s welcome center. All of the toys donated will go to the Empty Stocking Fund, a program set up by the Morgan County Sheriffs’ Department and facilitated by the Department of Family and Children’s Services. All the food items will be taken to the Morgan County Action Incorporated Food Bank. These are two exceptional causes in Morgan County and its great to see Kingston on Lake Oconee taking such an active involvement in the area. While the main event is to benefit these local charities, the day will be full of fun holiday festivities. As I said before, Santa Claus will be present so that kids can sit on his lap and tell him what they want for Christmas. There will also be arts and crafts, cookies and hot chocolate.
You will be introduced to Buckhead and Morgan County as several local businesses are participating in the event by donating a door prize. Simply Southern, Holcomb’s Barbeque, Amelia’s, Godfrey Cox Co., Fish Tales, Tiny Tales, Pure Bliss Spa, Tequila Express, Camille & Company, Mulberry Toys, Nail & Tan Spa at Harmony Crossing, Jordie Bug, Mellow Mushroom, 2 Peas in a Pod and Petals Salon are all involved with the event. Yes, these door prizes will be awarded to attendees. You will receive a raffle ticket for each toy and/or food item that you bring – so the more you have to donate, the greater your chances of winning a prize. Raffle prizes include: gift certificates, gift items, baked goodies, and various different store items from the involved participants.
Kingston on Lake Oconee is the perfect setting for a second home. So, get in the holiday spirit and come participate in this toy and food drive. Not only will you be benefiting a great cause and having fun in the process, but it is a great opportunity to tour the community and get acclimated with local businesses.
