Celebrating Heron Bay Academy
Residents from Henry and Spalding counties met on March 3 at the Heron Bay Lodge to celebrate Heron Bay’s new charter and discuss logistics for moving forward on the project.
35 different groups applied to the Georgia Charter Commission for new charter schools. Heron Bay Academy was one of only seven approved. Parents, community leaders and business leaders have joined in the efforts to make Heron Bay Academy one of the finest public schools in the state of Georgia.
Heron Bay will not only offer residents of the master-planned community, Heron Bay Golf and County Club another option for tuition free school, the charter school set to open in the Fall of 2011 will also serve students throughout both Henry and Spalding counties.
Using a more hands-on approach to learning than a traditional public school, Heron Bay Academy will focus on literature, drama, art, music, technology studies and foreign language studies, allowing all of the students to have a well rounded education that can be tailored to each students specific needs. Heron Bay Academy will initially serve 400 students grades K-6, plans are underway to expand the academy to grades K-8 by 2014.
Heron Bay Academy is just one reason so many Georgians have chosen to call the Atlanta master-planned community home. For more information about Heron Bay Golf and County Club, stop by the sales center today!
