Hear From the Atlanta Regional Commission at the HBA’s August Meeting
Registration is now open for the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association’s (GAHBA) August Regional Meeting, which will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014. The meeting will feature an exciting guest speaker from the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC), as well as a delicious lunch from Maggiano’s Little Italy.
The Atlanta Regional Commission is a regional planning and intergovernmental coordination agency for the 10-county area that includes Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry and Rockdale counties, as well as the city of Atlanta. The group’s goal is to unify the region’s collective resources to prepare the metropolitan area for a prosperous feature. As a city that has historically relied on homebuilding as an economic indicator, a meeting of the minds from members of both the Greater Atlanta HBA and the ARC is a great way to learn about the city’s economic future.
Mike Alexander, the research and analytics division manager of the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC), will be on hand during the August meeting to address the following questions:
- Coming out of this structural economic realignment called the great recession, what are the long term trends, both demographic and economic, that will drive business in metro Atlanta?
- Who are the future residents of metro Atlanta and what economic impact will they have?
- What are the safe bets about economic growth that will come as a result of these socio-economic changes?
- What are the implications for builders and how will we have to retool to stay relevant in this new business environment?
The August Regional Meeting will be held at the Buckhead Maggiano’s, which is located at 3368 Peachtree Road in Atlanta. Registration is at 11:30 a.m. and lunch begins at noon. The event is $20 for builders, $30 for associates and $40 for non-members. To register for the event, visit www.AtlantaHomeBuilders.com.
