Haven Properties wins Energy Star honor for third consecutive year
Alpharetta based new home builder Haven Properties has been tapped by the U.S. EPA as a 2008 Excellence in ENERGY STAR Promotion Award winner, recognizing their outstanding contributions to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This is Haven’s third consecutive year as an Energy Star Award winner.
“We make energy efficiency a fundamental part of doing business. To us, green building is not just a trend,” said Mike Baptist, President of Haven Properties. “Building to meet or exceed Energy Star and EarthCraft standards is just one way we help our homebuyers and the environment.”
Haven has recently begun guaranteeing energy usage in their homes. When a home closes, they run a computer model to predict the amount of electricity and natural gas the home will use. If it uses more, they will pay the value of the difference between predicted and actual usage at 12 and 24 months after closing.
“Partners like Haven Properties are leading the way by showing Americans how the can protect our environment through energy efficiency,” said Robert J. Meyers, Principal Deputy Assistant Administrator for EPAs Office of Air & Radiation.
Homebuyers can find energy efficient, environmentally friendly homes in Cobb, Dawson, Douglas, Forsyth and South Fulton counties.
