Golfview Villas at Park Springs Impresses Homeowners

When Amelia James called her brother to tell him that she and her husband, Curtis, were moving to Golfview Villas at Park Springs, she got a surprise.

“Meg and I are moving there, too,” her brother, Frank Manning replied.

The siblings, who grew up in Decatur, now live across from each other at the 50-acre award-winning retirement community adjacent to Stone Mountain Park and meet for dinner at least once a week at one of the dining facilities at Park Springs.

“Amelia and I are closer now socially and physically than we have been in many years. It’s amazing that we both came to Park Springs at the same time,” Manning said.

Curtis and Amelia James were living in Highlands, NC when they decided it was time to move to a retirement community in Atlanta where they lived for many years after Curtis retired from the Marine Corps.

“We walked in and it felt right. They have an incredible collection of very nice original art on the walls. I knew that if they care that much about the artwork, they must do a good job with everything,” said Amelia James, a portrait artist who has presented a painting workshop at the Park Springs art studio.

The Mannings came to Park Springs for dinner with friends and decided to stay.

“We like so many things about Park Springs but high on the list is the ability to meet new, interesting people. We enjoy participating in activities or just meeting friends for dinner,” Frank Manning said.

Park Springs offers active adults ages 62 and up distinctive homes with one, two or three bedrooms and a host of luxury features. Golfview Villas, situated between the Stone Mountain golf course and a two-acre lake, features two and three bedroom plans with sunrooms or screened porches, reserved underground parking and wooded and golf course views. Prices range from $197,000 top $411,900.

The community boasts a resort-like array of amenities that include a clubhouse with a library, an art studio, a woodworking shop, billiards room, bridge room and business center. The state-of-the art fitness center has a lap pool, a therapy pool, and hot tub. Shops and services on campus include a market, a bank, a beauty salon and a barber shop.

Members at Park Springs enjoy biweekly housekeeping at no additional cost, complimentary lawn care and a wide variety of dining options, including home delivery at no additional cost.

The facility has a Medicare certified clinic, staffed by a board-certified geriatrician and two geriatric nurse practitioners and Cobblestone, an assisted living center right on campus.

“It is such a comfort to have good medical care right here. We love this place. It’s quiet and out of the way but there’s always something going on,” Amelia James said.
