Georgia Ranks #6 for Best Business
Even though there is an overcast from the economic downturn, Atlanta is still shining through. A recent Forbes article ranked Georgia #6 for The Best States for Business. That’s extremely high! There were over 30 different points of data that were used to figure this out and there were 6 categories used to rank each state. The business costs category was weighted the heaviest and includes labor, energy and taxes. Georgia came in close to the middle of the nation. This may be due to the fact that Georgia has one of the lowest corporate income tax rates.
Among the different categories, Georgia ranked first for regulatory environment. This category includes aspects such as transportation. Of course, MARTA comes to mind for Atlanta transportation, and it’s no secret that this is a widely used mode of transportation that works to lessen traffic congestion in the city.
Georgia came in at 7th for labor rank. This category includes educational attainment, net migration, and population growth. Georgia is home to a large number of primary and secondary school options and has many great colleges including Georgia Tech and Georgia State, allowing those to have many options to gain a valued education. The downtown area of Atlanta attracts many newcomers each year due to the vibrant atmosphere of the city. Those living in the surrounding areas have a great selection of dining and shopping options as well as cultural activities to visit such as the High Museum and the Fox Theatre.
Georgia also stood out by ranking 15 out of 50 states for projected job growth rate. Atlanta is home to many headquarters for larges businesses such as Home Depot and Coca Cola and others. The low taxes mentioned earlier help attract companies and create more jobs.
Over all, Georgia is well deserving of 6th place for the Best States for Business. The city of Atlanta is growing and provides some of the best business opportunities. Along with that, it offers a great atmosphere to live in.
