Georgia Golf Community Hosts Awareness Day
Owen Glen has definitely announced themselves to the local community by hosting a very successful Community Awareness Day in late September. The Georgia golf course community attracted a mix of more than 200 local media, real estate agents and potential buyers. Those in attendance received an exclusive first look of the property and the Old Union golf course through private golf cart tours. An initial 26 home sites, priced from the $70,000s, were released in September at Owen Glen, a gated community perfect for move-up buyers, second home buyers and retirees looking for a dignified golf course community home. These affordable, generous one- to three-acre home sites were developed to enhance the natural beauty of the land, so homeowners will enjoy the peaceful, rolling hills and a slate of amenities for an active lifestyle.
Owen Glen’s amenity package will include a clubhouse, pool and tennis. The first-class clubhouse will include a fitness center, grille, meeting room and pro shop. Garland Reynolds of Reynolds Architects is designing the clubhouse, on which construction is scheduled to begin in early 2009. Residents will enjoy trout fishing in the natural creek running through the property. Owen Glen homeowners will also enjoy access to the fitness center, pool, tennis and meeting room through their social membership. Of course, the highlight of the community will be a semi-private, 7,500 yard championship length golf course designed and owned by world-renowned golf course designer, Denis Griffiths. The Old Union course weaves beautifully through the natural meadows, creeks and woods with a breathtaking view of the mountains as its backdrop. The 18-hole par 72 course includes a comprehensive practice range that will be one of the finest in north Georgia.
Away from the hustle and bustle of city life, residents at Owen Glen will enjoy a serene, laid back lifestyle that can only be found in a mountain community. Union County’s relaxed mountain environment makes it the perfect place for those who embrace the great outdoors to call home. Lake Nottely, a 4,400 acre lake with more than 100 miles of shoreline, is a mile away and is the ideal setting for trout fishing, boating, swimming and picnicking. For those looking to stay on dry land, the mountains provide unlimited adventures for hikers and mountain bikers of all ages. The Appalachian Trail is accessible at several points within Union County offering endless opportunities for day hikers as well as those hiking the trail from Georgia to Maine.
