He says that the Georgia Department of Labor recently announced revised numbers that indicate the area is adding between 50,000 to 60,000 net new jobs each month as compared with 2012. This increased job creation is what is behind the increased demand for housing. One of the biggest impacts demand is having is increased new home prices. In the first quarter of 2013, median resale prices rose 30 percent from the same time in 2012, which recorded the lowest median sale price on record. On the new home construction side, builders can't build fast enough. In fact, builders are saying that 50 percent of their new construction inventory has been pre-sold, which is big news since Atlanta has never been a strong pre-sale market.
