Explore Virginia-Highlands during this Weekend’s Tour of Homes

The Virginia-Highland Tour of Homes is being held this weekend, and this year’s tour features eight homes that include several renovated bungalows, a 1920s Georgian Revival-style home and a contemporary new home. This year’s tour also includes a bonus stop that showcases the new Briarcliff Summit, which was originally the Briarcliff Hotel that was built by Coca-Cola founder Asa Candler.

Each home on the tour has been paired with a neighborhood restaurant and will feature food samplings each day from noon until 4 p.m. The tour begins on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 10 a.m. and lasts until 4 p.m. On Sunday, Dec. 8, the tour will last from noon until 4 p.m. Proceeds from the event will be used for park improvements; safety, sidewalk and traffic concerns and planning and preservation efforts in the Virginia-Highland neighborhood. To preview each of the homes included on this year’s tour, visit the tour’s website.

Epic Development has just started construction on a Mediterranean inspired home at 781 Highland Terrace, which is just around the corner from many of the homes on the tour. This home will feature five bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms, including a guest suite on the main level.

The home opens to a two-story foyer and features hardwood floors throughout the main level. At the heart of the home will be a gourmet kitchen with custom wood cabinets, solid surface countertops, commercial grade appliances and a walk-in pantry. The kitchen also has an oversized island that overlooks the family room featuring a fireplace which opens to a covered back porch. Additional features on the main level include a formal dining room with a butler’s pantry, an attached two-car garage, mudroom and laundry room.

The second floor of the home features the master suite, which is complete with a luxurious master bathroom. In addition, there are three secondary bedrooms with adjoining bathrooms and a loft space that opens to the rooftop terrace that overlooks the front yard.

Also included in this new homes s a full basement, which would be the perfect space for a family room, media room and an additional guest suite.
