Energy Efficient Features Benefit Your Budget and the Environment

Green is the theme for today – so all of our blog posts on AtlantaRealEstateForum are going to focus on green building and eco friendly features. I shouldn’t have to explain why, but just in case you are completely out of touch with reality, tomorrow is Earth Day! In honor of Earth Day we want you thinking of ways to make your home environmentally friendly. So, first, we are are going to give you more incentive to renovate your existing home with energy-efficient features or, if in the market for a new home in Atlanta, we want you looking at energy-efficient new homes.

The first and most important reason to purchase a green built home in Atlanta is because it is better for the environment. You will be reducing your carbon footprint on the Earth, and doing your part to ensure the next generation won’t be suffering because of our carelessness with natural resources.

The other big reason you should be looking into energy-efficient new homes in Atlanta or green renovations is because it will save you money. With energy-efficient features incorporated into your homes, your monthly utility bills will decrease. In addition, you qualify for the energy-efficient tax credits of up to $1,500 for all of the different green features you include in your renovations or new Atlanta home. Now, it is a little more complicated than they way that I summed it up, which is why we are thrilled the National Association of Home Builders has launched a Web site that goes into detail about all of the energy-efficient tax credits available. I suggest you take a look at this because you can get up to $1,500 for many features in your home, from windows and doors to insulation and water heaters.

You may think that it is too expensive to go green, but in reality the green features do not increase the price of the project or house that drastically and it will save you so much in the long run. And as for green built new homes in Atlanta, there has never been a better time to buy. With the exceptional deals and reduction in prices, green built homes are at the same price point as homes that do not incorporate green features. So, what’s to think about? Green built homes are better for the environment and better for your wallet, seems like a no-brainer if you ask me!
