DeKalb County Schools Honor Bright Elementary Students
DeKalb County School System recently held is 27th annual Elementary Board Scholars recognition program at Miller Grove High School, awarding students certificates and medals for their academic successes. Honoring 482 elementary school students, the mistress of ceremonies, Lily Jurskis, was a fifth grade Board Scholar from Fernbank Elementary School.
The Elementary Board Scholars program began in 1983 as an initiative to promote outstanding academic achievement among elementary school students. The program now celebrates the work of the top six students from the highest grade-level at each DeKalb elementary school. Board Scholars are selected on the basis of test scores, an essay and an interview.
