Big Day for Atlanta Real Estate Forum Contributor!

As most of you know, I am a regular contributor on Atlanta’s favorite real estate blog, and today I have some very exciting real estate-related news to share with the industry. This morning, Friday, November 20th, I closed on my first house! No longer am I throwing my money away every month on rent that does not contribute to my overall wealth. Instead, I have made a very sound and solid investment and I can’t wait to move in.

What motivated me to buy? Well, it was a perfect storm of the right house, the right price and the right time. I got an amazing deal on a home, paying about $50,000 less than it is actually worth (I am sure my neighbors are going to hate to hear that). And deals like this are available throughout the city, all you have to do is look until you find the right home. I also got an amazing interest rate on my home loan, which is especially impressive since this is my first house. And the fact that I am going to get $8,000 from the government for buying a home is just icing on the cake!

One thing that I learned through the home buying process that I didn’t really know before is how much your interest rate can affect your monthly payments. It also made me realize why now is such a great time to buy, because while amazing prices may remain in the housing market for the next six months to a year and the home buyer tax credit has been extended, the low interest rates are going to vanish. In fact, they have already begun to rise.

It really is a buyer’s market out there, and you probably will not see low interest rates and home prices like this again in your lifetime, or so many economists are saying. So take advantage of the amazing opportunities there are for buyers, just like I did. You won’t be sorry!
