Preliminary Activities for the 18th Annual Congress for New Urbanism
You do not want to miss the upcoming leadership forum co-hosted by Cousins Properties and Central Atlanta Progress on Thursday, January 14th, which kicks off the preliminary activities for the 18th Annual Congress for New Urbanism. It promises to be a particularly lively and informative dialogue regarding Downtown Atlanta’s future in the critical areas of water, transit, livability and energy and is appropriately titled “Imagine Downtown: Sustainable, Healthy and Livable.”
The event will take place from 6-9 p.m. at the American Cancer Society auditorium (250 Williams St. – Downtown Atlanta) and feature a series of panels and round table discussions. Organizers expect more than 100 people in attendance.

- John Norquist, CEO Congress for the New Urbanism
- Dhiru A. Thadani, a renowned architect and urbanist
- Chick Krautler, Director, Atlanta Regional Commission

- Brian Stone, Georgia Institute of Technology
The forum takes place in anticipation of the 18th national Congress for new Urbanism coming to Atlanta May 19-22, 2010. The theme for this year’s CNU18 is “New Urbanism: Rx for Healthy Places.” On Friday, January 15, an Urban Lab program with a select group of CNU leaders and local experts will test integrated sustainable principles into existing plans for SoNo (South of North Ave. district) that will expand into presentations during the May conference.
