Cobb County Redefines Building Line

Cobb County has changed the county zoning regulations to amend the definition of a building line. The Cobb County Building Department is now requiring builders to have their structural plans on site before any footing inspection. Inspectors will use the plans to verify that any cantilevered portions of the home, excluding roof eaves and overhangs, chimneys, bay windows and all siding material, are within the building setback lines.

The Building Department will also require topographical lot surveys and site plans for every teardown and redevelopment property for compliance with a new code amendment governing infill construction height. These site plans and surveys will also be reviewed by the district commissioner.

Read these two recently adopted Cobb County code amendments.
