Residents at The Springs at Sterling on the Lake, an easy-living community from Stonecrest Homes, have a variety of ways to celebrate the Memorial Day holiday. Whether they prefer to run a race, attend a concert or watch a local parade, the local towns surrounding this Hall County master-planned community offer it all.
Homeowners can celebrate Armed Forces Day this Saturday, May 17 by participating in Flowery Branch’s 5K Spring Fun Run. Sponsored by the Flowery Branch Masonic Lodge No. 212, a portion of the proceeds from each runner will be donated to the local Disabled American Veterans Chapter. The race is $20 per runner and it begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Old Train Depot on Main Street. To enter this year’s Fun Run, download the registration form here.
If you prefer to celebrate the holiday in a more relaxing fashion, join the annual Memorial Day Weekend Celebration at Lake Lanier Islands. Hosted by Rock100.5, the party begins on Friday, May 23 and lasts until Monday, May 26. Attendees will enjoy live music, fireworks on Sunday night and much more.
Residents looking for a more traditional event can view the city of Gainesville’s annual Memorial Day Parade, which will be held on Monday, May 26 at 10 a.m. Members of the Paul E. Bolding American Legion Post No. 7 will be honoring the U. S. service members who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in the service to their country. Bring your chairs early and enjoy the day’s festivities!
