Oakland Park Gains National Attention
Atlanta’s newest mixed-use residential condominium and commercial project, Oakland Park, is already gaining national attention for its commitment to green building and great design. The community has been named a finalist in two national sustainable awards programs, including Environmental Design + Construction’s (ED+C) “Excellence in Design” and Multi-Housing News’ “The Design Excellence Awards.” Oakland Park is also Atlanta’s first LEED Silver certified multi-family building, meaning that it has met the qualifications of being a more energy efficient construction site that has sent little waste to a landfill, and that the building is a high performance building that will use less energy over time. Unfortunately the bidding stops this Friday, October 3rd, meaning there is not much time left for you to claim this unique house as your own. Once you see the completed project, there is no doubt you will be thoroughly impressed by the quality craftsmanship and eco-friendly features. Oxendine to Announce Georgia’s first Green Homeowners insurance policy
Insurance Commissioner John W. Oxendine will join Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company Regional Vice President Chris Molinari to announce the approval of the first green homeowners’ insurance policy in Georgia on Tuesday, September 30 at EcoManor at 11 a.m.
This new coverage became available this year enabling Georgia homeowners with conventional homes to rebuild to the latest environmental standards after a loss.
If home is damaged (partial loss), customers may choose from a menu of items
- Energy Star rated appliances, lighting, electronic equipment and roofing / insulation
- An Energy Star upgrade of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems
Brock Built Green House on Prime Time TV
If you were watching the 8:00 p.m. news Wednesday night on WSB Channel 2, then you should have seen the feature devoted to the Brock Built Green House. Since WSBTV is an active partner of the community service project, they are more than eager to bring awareness to the green built house in Atlanta. Last night, you were given a brief tour of the home through a photo slide show, an overview of a few factors that help make the new home green and were informed that bidding has officially started. That’s right, if you have been following along with the progress of the Green House with intentions to place a bid, now is the time. Bidding started at $350,000 and will go up in increments of $1,000 or more. The sale of the home is being handled by Interstate Auction, and all of the proceeds of the sale will benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Design Comes to Eco-Friendly TerraSol
Vesmont, LC is utilizing LLA Design Associates to bring the luxury homes in TerraSol, Gwinnett County’s new eco-friendly community, to the next level. The design firm has been involved since the development phase and selected colors and finishes for the 7,000 square foot clubhouse as well as for the entrance and other amenities.
LLA Design is also working with Highlight Homes to pick lush and lavish finishes for each unique homeplan. They have selected six color combinations in order to simplify the homebuying process while also offering an opportunity for homeowners to customize their new Atlanta home. Each of the six choices tie in beautifully the floors, tile, patterns, fabrics, paint colors and finishes to give each new home an added touch of luxury and personality.
