NAMAR Casino Night in August
The Northeast Atlanta Metro Association of REALTORS is hosting its second annual Casino Night on August 6th! Held at the 1818 Club in Duluth. This is a fun night of gaming, entertainment, food and networking - so be sure to put it on your calendars as a can’t-miss event. It’s safe to say there couldn’t be a more entertaining way to interact and meet other Atlanta real estate agents. Events like this Casino Night are extremely beneficial as you’ll get the opportunity to befriend your colleagues and exchange secrets of the industry, and in this market it definitely couldn’t hurt to get as many pointers as you can. In addition to the gaming, there is also a live and silent auction. The festivities begin at 7:00 p.m. and continue to 10:00 p.m. Considering the fact this is such fun filled evening, NAMAR is expected to have big crowd at the event, so you’ll want to get your tickets early before they sell out. Karen Love Recognized as NAMAR Good Neighbor
NAMAR is honored to recognize Karen Love of Virtual Properties as the July/August Good Neighbor. Karen has been a NAMAR member for more than 15 years. She has given 100% to help those who have put their lives on the line to protect us — Americans. Karen started the first Sentinels of Freedom Chapter in Georgia in Gwinnett County. The chapter is made up of a group of concerned citizens and veterans dedicated to bringing home a severely disabled veteran, giving them a job, home, car, college education and Life Coaching for four years to help them comfortably settle in Gwinnett County.
Karen has worked tirelessly to help raise money and awareness for this cause. On Memorial Day weekend, Karen and her team spend the weekend at various parade’s and festivals promoting Sentinels of Freedom. Celebrity Golf Tournament at The Georgia Club
The Georgia Club is gearing up for its first Celebrity Golf Tournament! Celebrities like Dave Bliss (former UGA basketball player), Neal Boortz (WSB radio), David Chandley (WSB-TV), Chuck Dowdle (WSB-TV), Damon Evans (UGA Athletic Director), Kelley Hester (UGA Women’s Golf Team coach), Charlie Rymer (ESPN commentator) and Suzanne Yoculan (UGA Gym Dog’s coach) will join registered teams for a fun-filled day of golf and festivities to support local charities.
Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, followed by breakfast and a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The cost for the event is $200 per person or $800 per team. The community is invited to attend the awards ceremony and cookout at 1:30 p.m. for $50.

Street of Dreams Selects an Address at The Georgia Club
Street of Dreams, Inc., the nation’s most popular and prestigious home tour, will pave its way to The Georgia Club next fall. Northeast Georgia’s premier residential golf community will host the home show, which will feature up to six fully furnished custom-built homes with a range of square footage and a variety of home plans. The Georgia Club plans to include homes at several different price points to reflect all that the community has to offer. The Street of Dreams will run for six weeks from September to October 2009.
Attendees will be able to tour the homes built specifically for the Street of Dreams, all located within easy walking distance to promote a fuller experience of the community. Builders will partner with interior designers to transform the homes into a showcase of architectural and interior design trends while reflecting The Georgia Club’s architectural code and distinct style. NAMAR Stays on Top of Legislative Issues

The Northeast Atlanta Metro Association of REALTORS (NAMAR) had a great turn out for the Election Forum held on June 30, 2008. The forum was for the candidates running for Gwinnett County Commissioner seats. Randal Winfield of Winfield Realty Group was the moderator. He asked the candidates some tough questions regarding their views issues from illegal immigration to their support of the Plumbing Retrofit requirements. The candidates in attendance were Charles Bannister, Lorrain Green, Glenn Pirkle, Carol Hassell, Shirley Fanning Lasseter, Bruce LeVell, Mike Beaudreau and Doug Stacks, Jr.
Not only were Gwinnett County Commissioner seat candidates the focus at NAMAR, but the State House of Representatives were invited to NAMAR on June 26th to discuss their views on issues that affect the real estate industry. GAR’s Tim Kibler, Manager of Government Affairs, and John Barbour, Political Affairs Manager, along with NAMAR’s Executive Vice President, Tom O’Rourke and NAMAR Legislature Committee members Randal Winfield and Garland Smith met with state representatives Brooks Coleman, Bobby Reese, Mike Coan, Clay Cox, David Casas and John Heard.
