Jim Chapman Communities Wins Five OBIE Awards
A tremendous congratulations goes out to Jim Chapman Communities as they brought home five awards, four of which were gold awards, at last weekend’s OBIES ceremony at the Cobb Galleria. Among the many honors of the night, Jim Chapman Communities is most proud of Brookhaven at Sugarloaf being named the Fifty-Plus Community of the Year, in which the community received a gold award. This was not the only honor bestowed upon Brookhaven at Sugarloaf as the Gwinnett County active adult community also received the Gold Award for Attached Community of the Year. Brookhaven of East Cobb received the Gold Award for Best Amenity Package (500 units and above), which really isn’t too much of a surprise as earlier this year the community clubhouse at this active adult community in Kennesaw received a Gold Award from the Fifty Plus Housing Awards in New Orleans. Rounding out the evening’s awards for Jim Chapman Communities, Brookhaven at Lanier Ridge received both a gold and silver award. (Continued…)
Central Atlanta Progress Honors Five Projects in Design Excellence Awards
Central Atlanta Progress announced winners of the third annual Atlanta Downtown Design Excellence Award (ADDEA) during last Thursday’s Downtown Development Day. The event took place at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis with more than 500 people in attendance.
Awards were presented in five categories: Hotel, Institution, Office, Residential and Restaurant/Bar. They recognize newly created Downtown spaces that demonstrate excellence in Atlanta design.
Winners included Hotel – The Ellis (architect: Stevens &Wilkinson Stang & Newdow, Inc.) Institution (Georgia Power Bright Generations Childcare Center (architect: Heery International, Inc.) Office – Cushman & Wakefield of Georgia, Inc. (architect: HOK), Residential – Oakland Park (Surber Barbert Choate & Hertlein Architects P.C.) and Restaurant/Bar Noni’s Bar & Deli (architect: Matt Ruppert, Noni’s owner). (Continued…)

Peachtree Hills Place’s Site Smart Program Receives Award
The Site Smart program at Peachtree Hills Place received a third place award Thursday from Keep Georgia Beautiful, a community action and education organization dedicated to protecting and improving Georgia’s environment. Peachtree Hills Place is an upscale residential community in Buckhead for people ages 55 and older seeking a secure, independent lifestyle, developed by Isakson Barnhart Properties. Isakson Barnhart created the Site Smart program, a four-hour certification program to use in training construction superintendents and equipment operators on the role of trees in the environment and best practices for tree preservation, in partnership with the Chattahoochee Nature Center and the Georgia Forestry Commission.
