The 43rd Annual Mountain Moonshine Festival is coming soon. A popular family oriented festival held inÂ  downtown Dawsonville, Ga. the weekend of Oct. 23 - 24 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.Â   Admission is FREE.

On Oct. 23,  crafts, food and entertainment start bright and early at 8 a.m. on the  square. A parade, beginning at 9 a.m., departs from the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame. Grand Marshall, David Pearson, will lead a line of moonshine and revenue cars through historic  Dawsonville, reflecting the era of prohibition and moonshine runners  that raced through Dawson County - one of the preeminent birthplaces of  NASCAR and legendary racers like Lloyd Seay, Roy Hall, Raymond Parks,  Gober Sosebee and Dawsonville&#039;s own Bill Elliott. Rev up your engines  for a car show, including vintage race cars and their drivers. On Oct.  24, activities continue with music, dancers, kid&#039;s games and rides,  exhibits, crafts, food and cars, cars and more cars.

Festival souvenirs such as t-shirts, sweatshirts,  magnets and Legendary Race Car Drivers Calendars will also be available  for purchase.

Insider Tip: While in town,  check out Around Back at Rocky&#039;s Place, a primitive folk art treasure  trove featuring works by North Georgia and Southeast artists, including  paintings, canes, birdhouses, pillows, whirligigs, jewelry and more. It  is open weekends only.
