NAHB Honors ‘Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’ With an Award
The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) presented the first-ever NAHB Special Achievement Award for Contributions to the Home Building Industry to the television show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” in a ceremony at their board of directors meeting on Sept. 26 in San Diego.
“Through their work, the talent, creativity, dedication and generosity of the home-building community has been showcased in millions of living rooms across the country,” said NAHB Chairman Sandy Dunn, a home builder from Point Pleasant, W.Va.
NAHB created the award to recognize individuals or organizations that are not directly involved in housing that have done much to showcase the home building industry in a positive light. (Continued…)
Project Playhouse Award Winners Announced
HomeAid Atlanta is delighted to announce the successful completion of its fifth annual signature fundraiser, Project Playhouse. More than $200,000 was raised through the total combined sales of raffle tickets, auction party tickets, auctioned playhouses, silent auction items, in-kind donations and sponsorships. All proceeds from Project Playhouse support HomeAid Atlanta’s mission of building dignified transitional housing where temporarily homeless children, women and men in metro Atlanta can rebuild their lives. The Awards and Auction Party concluded the annual event on October 4th, and it was at this party where the Project Playhouse award winners were announced and the results are as followed:
The Craftsman Award – presented for the highest caliber of builder craftsmanship

The Neel Reid Award – presented for the most creative architectural design

The OBIE Awards are only one month away, do you have your tickets? The OBIEs are a highly anticipated awards ceremony hosted by the Sales and Marketing Council and The Atlanta Home Builders Association. Many home builders in Atlanta are completing for these prestigious awards, and they will be present at the ceremony on November 8th. Oakland Park Gains National Attention
Atlanta’s newest mixed-use residential condominium and commercial project, Oakland Park, is already gaining national attention for its commitment to green building and great design. The community has been named a finalist in two national sustainable awards programs, including Environmental Design + Construction’s (ED+C) “Excellence in Design” and Multi-Housing News’ “The Design Excellence Awards.” Oakland Park is also Atlanta’s first LEED Silver certified multi-family building, meaning that it has met the qualifications of being a more energy efficient construction site that has sent little waste to a landfill, and that the building is a high performance building that will use less energy over time.
