AJC has announced staff cuts and additional cut backs in county coverage. Much of this is reported in a story that hit MSNBC earlier today — 200 jobs to be cut or about 8 percent of the work force.
More Relevant to Atlanta new builders and those shopping for Atlanta real estate is this news. . .The August 2 issues will be the final issues of Real Estate Saturday. These sections are also being rolled into the new “AJC Homefinder” that will run as a broadsheet on Sundays.

The Clowdus Team Named to Coldwell Banker International President’s Circle for ‘07
The Clowdus Team from Coldwell Banker Bullard Realty’s Jonesboro/Clayton County office has qualified to join the company’s International President’s Circle. The prestigious membership is awarded to the top three percent of the more than 116,800 real estate agents worldwide in the Coldwell Banker system. Bowen Family Homes Presents Summer School
Bowen Family Homes is presenting a FREE continuing education course for Realtors in the Atlanta real estate market tomorrow, July 17 and Thursday July 31. These classes will be taught by Robert T. Merx, the president of Construction Arbitration Associates. Realtors who attended the last CE class said that it was one of the best and most informative classes they had ever attended. About 30 Atlanta area Realtors attended the July 10 Housing Anatomy class at Stonehaven Pointe. The summer learning series by Bowen is proving to be a big hit after just one class. The July 17 and 31 classes will be held at the Bowen Family Homes corporate office in Duluth and are good for three hours of credit each. The topics for the last two classes are How Quality Enhances Value in Residential Construction and Seven Phrases of Highly Effective Contracts. Changes at AJC - AJC to Reinvent Homefinder
In the midst of the constant change that seems to have become the new norm for those of us working in Atlanta real estate, the AJC Homefinder is being reinvented to run as a broad sheet in the main paper vs. a separate tabloid size section.
We aren’t yet sure if it will be called AJC Homefinder or AJC Homes. It will be a combination of the Thursday HomeStyle section and Sunday Homefinder rolled into one new section. The good news is that it will run on Sundays with a full run of press (the Thursday HomeStyle is only distributed to the northside and within the city). The section will cover new homes and resales as always, but will also include more on homes and home styles.
The launch of this section is set for mid to late August. Can’t wait to see it!
