It is fascinating to consider the process of how the only American-made quartz countertop moves from quarry to kitchen to make one of the most durable countertops on the market.

A Cambria counter surface begins as naturally quarried quartz, then it is pulverized to form the basis and 93% majority of the slab. These quartz elements range in size, from small granules to pebble-like amounts.

Colorants are then added to the quartz mixture to produce Cambria’s distinct and diverse color palette. Cambria offers everything from the traditional earth tones to trendy whites, serene blues, passionate reds and more. With Cambria, you can even find color mixtures, metallic and mimics of marble.

Next, a resin is applied that binds the quartz pieces together. This resin is a highly viscous compound which acts as the glue between the pieces of quartz to create the non-porous counter surface, and increases the impact resistance of the counter. The composite, or slurry as it is called, is then heated and vibrated to make sure for an even mix before it is poured into molds. Once there, the mold is compacted under heavy pressure to form the solid counter surface.
