Before choosing a lot, or a particular plan or style for your home, we recommend building the team of individuals that you will work with and for you. That team includes you, your builder, architect, and interior designer.

Why isn't Centex, Legacy and Atreus included in the list...they had at least 142 closings each this year?

Joel,

Thanks for your comment, and this is one of the reasons it is great to get a look at the list from the actual publication because you can see how much the rankings has shifted since last year. Yes, McCar, Beazer, Bowen and a few others have been on the list for a while, but there placements have adjusted. Last year's #1 builder didn't even make the list this year. Lane did not make the list last year, and is in the top 10 this year! Every builder on the list moved up from their ranking last year, and it is pretty interesting that the #24 in 2008 would be in the top 15 in 2009.

I am not so sure this list is that much different than last year. I mean, hasn't McCar, Lane, Bowen, Beazer and a couple others been on the list for a while?

Excellent information Laura.. I feel that it's very important for homebuyers to properly assess the new housing market in their desired area prior to making their "big" purchase. Buyers must first review information, such as this article, in order to get a feel for (i) what they can afford, and (ii) which builder is the right fit.

Thanks for the resource!
