Dwayne Hill and Roger Langford are this week’s guests on Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio. Dwayne talks about building Atlanta new homes with energy efficient features and Roger discusses the importance of buying a home with a warranty.
Dwayne Hill is the vice president of sales and marketing with Ashton Woods. This homebuilder is known for personalization. This starts with the floor plans that offer flexibility so that buyers may make adjustments and continues at the builder’s 12,000-foot design studio where buyers can select everything from flooring to cabinetry and beyond.
Dwayne shares the importance of energy efficiency in Atlanta new homes. He explains that the inclusion of Energy Star features in every Ashton Woods home translates to a monthly savings for buyers of 25 to 45 percent in energy costs. For example, compared to a 3,000 square foot home that was built prior to 2006, an Ashton Woods home buyer can save more than $200 a month, just on utility bills.
There are several building techniques that Ashton Woods uses to promote energy efficiency including:
- Framing: There are no air gaps when Ashton Woods installs the insulation and constructs the frame of your home. Plus, all gaps in the framing are caulked to prevent air flow.
- HVAC: Ashton Woods uses 92 efficient HVAC systems that aren’t required by code to be used in homes.
Dwayne also discusses Ashton Woods’ Facebook contests and outdoor living. To learn more about the energy efficient features in each Ashton Woods home, the builder’s Facebook contests or outdoor living, listen to the full podcast! And to learn more about Ashton Woods, visit the website.

Our next guest is Roger Langford, regional sales director for Professional Warranty Service Corporation. This interview was recorded over Skype, please excuse the sound quality.
The Professional Warranty Service Corporation services the home building industry by offering warranties to all types of builders all over the country, both big and small. Roger shares with us the different types of warranties. Most homes come with some type of warranty. Many builders today offer a one year standard warranty and assume certain long term liabilities that state statutes require. Builders who want to go the extra mile take their warranty obligations and insure them with 10-year insured warranties.
There are several reasons why buyers should purchase a home from a builder with an insured warranty from Professional Warranty Service Corporation. First, the Professional Warranty Service Corporation does a thorough inspection of several phases of its builders’ home building process. Second, all builders go through an extensive customer service review. Finally, buyers know that they are getting a quality home because the insurance backing of the Professional Warranty Service Corporation is an A+ rating.
