Welcome to the inaugural edition of Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio: Around Atlanta! This segment is designed to showcase the best of metro Atlanta – the communities, attractions and special events that make this city great.
The first Around Atlanta guest is Tucker Berta, the president of Liz Lapidus PR and a self-described food lover. Tucker is on-hand to discuss a few of the new Atlanta food districts that have popped up as the city’s passion for food has continued to grow. Atlanta has become one of the top foodie destinations in the country, and may just be the top food city in the South, thanks to our high concentration of celebrity chefs, award-winning restaurants and constant need to enjoy life over a plate of something delicious.
As perhaps Tucker’s favorite new food district, Little Italia was started by Chef Giovanni di Palma. Chef Gio brought true Italian pizza to the city when he opened Antico Pizza Napoletana, one of the top pizza destinations in all of metro Atlanta. Located on Hemphill Avenue in Midtown near Georgia Tech, Antico Pizza quickly took off, giving Chef Gio the opportunity to purchase more real estate nearby. As he bought more buildings, he opened more food-oriented establishments, creating a Little Italia in Atlanta. The other places Gio soon opened include Gio’s Chicken, Bottega Luisa, an Italian goods market, and Bar Amalfi, a cool hangout that is reminiscent of the Amalfi coast with its outdoor cabanas. If you’re looking for the perfect European experience in Atlanta, be sure to visit Little Italia.
Another burgeoning area is located along the Eastside Trail of the Atlanta BeltLine. One of Tucker’s regular stops on her way to work every day includes MetroFresh, a quaint eatery serving fresh, healthy and creative menu items for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant specializes in prepared gourmet soups, salads, side dishes, sandwiches and breakfast, and it’s the perfect spot to stop and grab a meal on-the-go.
As you head down the trail, be sure to stop in Paris on Ponce, one of the most eclectic stores in Atlanta. Also located along the trail is ONE. midtown kitchen, a great weekend brunch destination. Up next, just past Historic Fourth Ward Park, is the King of Pops BeltLine window. These delicious handcrafted pops were inspired by Latin American ice pops, and include natural ingredients and real fruit. Many of the pops are also gluten free! If you’re not a regular on the BeltLine, keep your eyes open for the King of Pops carts that can be found all around Atlanta, as they’re easily recognizable with their bright rainbow-colored umbrellas.
