Atlanta New Homes Communities Embrace Earth Day
With Earth Day upon us, now is a great time to reflect on our own lives and recognize ways we can incorporate a healthier, environmentally-friendly lifestyle into our busy lives. Recycling products like paper, aluminum and plastics are possibly some of the easiest ways to help our planet, but living in a home that has been constructed to be as kind to the environment as possible is another small way to lessen your carbon footprint. Below are some of the builders and communities throughout metro Atlanta that are doing their part to protect Mother Earth.
On Sat., April 26, Keep Atlanta Beautiful (KAtlB), City of Atlanta, and The BeltLine Partnership will host “Arms Around Atlanta ~ Earth Day Celebration.” Festivities will be held from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m., at Glenwood Park, a Green Street Properties ‘green’ development. The day’s activities will feature the Earth Day World MusicFest, Kids ECO-Zone, and the Organic and Local Taste of Atlanta, as well as a special ceremony at noon where Mayor Shirley Franklin and Anthony Pratt, Chairman and CEO, Pratt Industries, will award the winners of the “Stepping Lightly in Atlanta Awards Contest.”
eon at Lindbergh will be celebrating Earth Day on Tuesday, April 22 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the eon sales gallery located in Lindbergh City Center. As one of the first Buckhead communities to pursue the Earth Craft certification, guests of the Earth Day celebration will receive various tips on how to incorporate a ‘green’ lifestyle. Special guests will include representatives from the Piedmont Park Conservancy who will have a video detailing the future park expansion and how others can get involved. Also from Piedmont Park, the green market manager will be on hand telling people about the Green Market held at the park every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. beginning May 3 to December 13, as well how to grow and prepare organic foods. In addition, representatives from Lindbergh’s Pike Family Nursery will be demonstrating how to grow an indoor herb garden, and a Zip Car will be parked out front of the eon sales gallery along with a representaive explaining the benefits of the Zip Car. Dave FM will also have a remote vehicle on site from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
