Atlanta Buildable Hours Begins October 1
Buildable Hours is a chapter of Habitat for Humanity created in 2002 that offers small and mid-sized firms the chance to contribute to building homes in the Atlanta area by donating money and volunteering time. Buildable Hours began as a way for law and professional service firms to build upon volunteer work that their associates started at college chapters of Habitat for Humanity. This has developed into a successful program that is now established in LA, New York, San Francisco, Washington, DC, and Atlanta. The Atlanta chapter has a goal to build 55 homes by the time 2009 comes to an end. For this to happen, sponsor organizations are needed to help support the costs of construction and to volunteer their time to help build these homes.
The 2009 Buildable Hours will begin October 1 and will finish on November 21. Atlanta Habitat is looking for up to 14 firms that will each commit $5,500 and 20 volunteers for one 8-hour day or $11,000 and 40 volunteers. The sponsorship fee will go towards building the single-family ho me which will be dedicated on November 21. This is a great opportunity to take part and make a difference in your community. Those participating will work with their colleagues as well as the future homeowner family.
It’s becoming a trend for firms and organizations to take part in community service activities causing employees to feel a stronger sense of loyalty towards their organizations and creating a more positive image of the company in the eyes of Americans. This program also develops a sense of collaboration as everyone comes together to help create and support a better Atlanta community.
