Atlanta Area Green Building Consultant Earns LEED AP Homes Certification

Carl Seville, a green building consultant from the Metro Atlanta area, has obtained the LEED AP Homes professional certification as one of a select group of industry professional invited to participate in a pilot program by the Green Building Certification Institute. LEED is an internationally recognized certification system developed by the U. S. Green Building Council that measures how well a building or community performs across all the metrics that matter most: energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.
The LEED AP credential signifies an advanced depth of knowledge in green green building practices, and it also reflects the ability to specialize in a particular rating system. This includes the LEED AP Homes specialty earned by Seville, which provides a standard for professionals participating in design and construction of high performance green homes that use less energy, water and natural resources; create less waste; and are more healthful and comfortable for the occupants.
Seville, owner of Seville Consulting in Decatur, is a green builder, educator, and consultant on sustainability to the residential construction industry. After a 25-year career in the remodeling industry, he has dedicated himself in recent years to advancing residential green building and remodeling by consulting with, speaking to, writing for, and training industry professionals, and by certifying homes under the LEED, EarthCraft, National Green Building Program, and Energy Star Program.
