Beautiful weather welcomed dozens of guests to the groundbreaking of Adam’s Vineyard, a new conservation community by Atlanta home builder, Brock Built Homes. Adam’s Vineyard will be a new shining star in Norcross, with its Craftsman-style homes and lush green space in the heart of the city’s historic district.
“The whole region and the Southeast are going to look at this community,” said Norcross Mayor Bucky Johnson. “This is going to be the model for the future.”
Part of the appeal of Adam’s Vineyard will be the history preserved on the land. Brock Built Homes is keeping the muscadine vineyard on the property. The vineyard, which dates back to post-World War II, was planted by Colonel John Adams, a military hero who fell in love with the land. The vineyard was open to the public to pick the grapes for jellies and wine. Residents of Adam’s Vineyard will be able to continue that tradition, which is very important to the Adams family.
Adams’ son John attended the groundbreaking and spoke of his dad’s love of the land and how much it meant to the rest of family. He choked up as he repeated the words said by developer Robert Forro when he first visited the property.
“This is the most beautiful property I’ve ever walked,” John said, with tears in his eyes.
Adam’s Vineyard’s unique amenities will set it apart from other communities. Along with the muscadine vineyard, a park and community garden will lie at the center of the 61-home development. Walking trails and meadows will be shaded by majestic oak trees that are more than 100 years old.
Homes will be priced from the high $400,000s to the $700,000s, with construction set to start later this summer. The first residents could be moving in just in time to watch the leaves change colors this fall.
