2009 Universal Design Build Remodel Conference
The 2009 Universal Design Build Remodel Conference (UDBR) takes place December 8 & 9 at the Cobb Galleria Centre. This two-day conference for Atlanta real estate professionals will focus on aging in place and universal design in residential housing.
The interactive conference is designed to provide participants with a taste of life through the eyes of the active adult community. For example, Drue Ellen Lawlor’s “Stealthy Aging” seminar will have participants take on temporary physical challenges similar to those that aging adults experience on a daily basis. The group will then need to use their new found perspectives to work together as a team and brainstorm visions and ideas for homes that owners can age easily and comfortably in.
The Keynote Address, “The Evolution of Accessibility” will be given by Eleanor Smith, founder and director of Concrete Change, an international campaign for a basic level of universal design to become standard practice in new home construction. Other event speakers include Pamela Karen Goldstein, CMKBD / CKD / CBD / CAPS / Allied ASID; John P.S. Salmen, AIA, CAE and Drue Ellen Law, FASID. Each of these industry leaders brings a unique perspective and new ideas to the concept of aging in place.
The conference is a wonderful learning opportunity for any active adult builder, remodeler or Realtor in the Atlanta area. Tickets are on sale now, so visit www.udbrexpo.com to register today.
